I am reviewing the thriller One Mile Under by Andrew Gross which is an excellent novel that I bought from a local supermarket. Andrew had had success co-writing several novels with James Patterson as well as success as a solo writer. His books are normally consistently good. This book is set in Colorado among the oil wells and fast flowing rapids. Dani the key character is a river guide whose friend mysteriously dies and she suspects it was murder. A man who claims to have witnessed something also dies in a hot air balloon crash and she thinks it’s linked. The police aren’t interested in her theories and when she threatens to go public arrest her and her uncle a detective gets her out. He investigates a certain licence plate and discovers it belongs to a man supposedly killed in a war years ago and knows something is wrong. The trail leads to a mining coming and a team of special ops who are trying to help the company merge with another at any cost. Ty the uncle who is a policeman was used in another of Andy’s novels and has been revived for this. It is a very exciting novel fast paced all the way through. The special ops unit called Alpha Unit do try their best to eliminate Ty and Dani. There is also an exciting standoff at the end and the baddies get their comeuppance.  The book is around 520 pages so is a substantial length. I did thoroughly enjoy this book and do recommend it.
